Well, I've finally finished the 12-week Biggest Loser Challenge. During the Challenge, I lost 15lbs!!! That's 1.25 lbs. a week. I wish it had been a little more, but I'm still happy with these early results. I've learned over the course of my journey to not focus so much on the scale, but to be excited about the non-scale victories as well. Like the towel that goes around my body farther, like the fact that I can touch my toes, like the abs that are developing quite nicely on my body, like jeans that fit perfectly that didn't just a few weeks ago. This journey is definitely not limited to the scale. It involves the mind as well as the body. I have learned I am physically stronger than I thought I was. I have learned that a lifestyle change isn't really that hard, it just takes some dedication and will. In these 12 weeks, I have not felt deprived at all. There are times when I would have liked to eat more at a sitting just because I enjoyed the food so much, but didn't and didn't feel like I was missing out. I learned I don't need as much to feel full and of course the prospect of something chocolate for dessert that night helped curb my immediate appetite. And I can honestly say that I've had some sort of chocolate every day since I started the challenge. I've planned for it and decided early on that in order for this to be a sustainable lifestyle change, that I would have to figure in my chocolate. I can't live without chocolate!
All in all, I'm pretty satisfied. I'm not finished yet!!! I'm embarking on a new 12-week challenge tomorrow. I'm personally challenging myself to lose 1.5 lbs. a week this time. That would put me at a 33 lb. weight loss in 24 weeks. I would be within 22 lbs. of my goal. It's taking me longer to reach my goal than I had originally planned, but I'm trying to embrace that fact and look at it from a good angle considering this IS a lifestyle change and the slower I lose, statistics say the more consistent I'll be in the long term. I'm excited about the next leg of the journey!
Total Weight Lost: 15 lbs.
Weight Loss Goal: 55 lbs.
Pounds to Goal: 40 lbs.
